It might be good for the pools coupon, but we are getting rather bored of drawing. Yet another match that was in the bag at 3-1, after the singles, ends up shared thanks to our woeful pairs play. Some might say we should have been 4-0 up before the pairs, and this is a fair cop. Massive apologies from The Landlord, who it's fair to say, was shite at darts, but quite good at poker. However, we surely should be able to muster a point from our pairs matches. Poor old Jacko, let down again by another useless partner. Geoff "180" Goddard looked hot in his singles, but lost the plot in the pairs. Dave & Wiglet similarly failed to raise even a wimper as they lost 2-0.
However, lets finish with some positives:
Ken looked gutsy(isn't he always) as he clawed his way back from the precipice.
Wally was well pumped up, and blew his opponent away 3-0
Geoff not only registered a maximum, but finished clinically too.
We took 2 FREE pints each off the B team
Red Lion away next week

Never mind the draw, we did as you said, take 2 pints each from the B team.
Perhaps we should play Kath instead of Jacko in the doubles as she at least managed to get some on the board during the cricket!
As for my loosing in the doubles,I now have the same darts as the Landlord and his are used to loosing so mine done the same. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
The B Team continue their loosing streak 5 - 1 away to the Dolly pehaps they don't want their shirts either! Talking of gambling may be we should have a little wager on who gets the shirts first us or them? or is that a forgone conclusion?

The Skip has issued a challenge us or the B team to be the first to secure the shirts. I will be there with my tape measure at the Red Lion so watch out or it will be more than your shirts I'll want to know the size of!
I think I'm very safe to include the B team in the "shirt offer" - obviously walkovers are excluded.
Current Odds to be first to register a genuine 6-0 this season
are:- A Team 6/4
B team 5/1
no 6-0 = 1/2
Of course if Latimer isn't playing the odds may need to be revised.
Can we bet £10,000 on there being no 6-0 whilst we are playing please ?

Of more importance, I think scant attention is being paid to the invaluable work being carried out by The Bear's in-team Sports Psychologist. Yes, me. Who is it that encourages Pigglers to go for that vital extra '26' when the chips are down? Who, when all around are quite literally losing (one 'o') their much-vaunted and entirely alleged 'talent'? Hmm? Yes, the Man with the Rioja, silkily calculating the Oppo's weaknesses. Then, when the occasion calls, a well-timed 'You're shit and you know you are' at the A Team of That Crap Pub in Didcot/Wallingford/wherever wins us the game. So a bit less of the lip from all concerned and a bit more RESPECT I think is in order.
You will be relieved to learn, if you've bothered reading this far, I cannot play this Thursday as I have an important meeting at 9 in the Smoke, and knowing my breaking strength when in proximity with a bar (plasma-thin), I thought I'd better be a good boy and get some kip. Up The Bear!
